At the University of Utah, we believe that the exploration of controversial ideas and the thoughtful consideration of divergent viewpoints are essential parts of the college experience. However, this past year has helped us recognize that there are times when students, faculty, and staff may feel uncomfortable expressing their perspectives. To address this concern, U President Taylor Randall appointed the Viewpoint Representation and Expression Task Force in January 2024.

Our Mission

The task force is dedicated to strengthening our campus climate so that all voices and perspectives are welcomed and respected. Comprising faculty, students, staff, and trustee representatives, our team is charged with evaluating and assessing our campus environment related to the acceptance and diversity of a broad range of ideological viewpoints.
